How to Clean Your Pool Cue Butt and Wrap

Your cue's butt, wrap, and joint need different care than the shaft. This guide covers joint cleaning, finish care, and wrap-specific instructions for every wrap type Predator uses.

Joint Cleaning

Clean the Uni-Loc® Quick-Release or Radial® joint when you first receive your cue and every six months after. These are precision-manufactured to tight tolerances, and even light dirt buildup can affect fit. Use a Q-tip dipped in 90% isopropyl alcohol to clean the inside threads and bore of the shaft insert, and a clean rag with alcohol on the joint pin and threads. Joint protectors help keep the joint clean between cleanings and protect it from impact damage.

Cue Finish/Varnish Cleaning

Use a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with water to clean a polyurethane or matte cue butt finish. Predator REVO Cleaning Wipes or a light amount of 90% isopropyl alcohol on a dry cloth also works.

Linen Wrap Cleaning

The cleaning instructions for Linen Wraps are provided below. Alternative methods and cleaning agents may adversely affect these wraps.

Items needed:

  • Décor Rach Cleaning Scrub Sponge
  • Dawn Original Dishwashing liquid
  • Paper towels
  1. Apply a small amount of dishwashing liquid to the sponge. Wet and squeeze out excess until the sponge is lightly damp.
  2. Hold the sponge and a section of the linen wrap in the palm of your hand and carefully clean that section of the wrap by lightly turning the sponge around the end of the wrap. Do not allow the wrap to become soaked.
  3. Dry the cleaned portion with the paper towel.
  4. Rinse the sponge clean.
  5. Work your way down the wrap in this fashion until the wrap is clean.
  6. Repeat this operation again if needed.
  7. Allow the wrap to completely dry.
